Iran's morality police ("Gasht-e Ershad") enforces highly conservative behavioral rules and dress codes over the people of Iran. Their mandate and operation are recently reenergized under a hard-line president, Ebrahim Raisi, who took office last year supported by Ayatollah Ali Khomeini, the supreme religious leader of the Shia-majority Iran.
Mahsa Amini, a 22 y.o. girl, recently died after being interrogated by the morality policy for violating their strict dress code. Her death sparked an intense nationwide protest in Iran. Against these protests, the government in Iran has been responding with intense application of force.
